Japan Earthquake and Tsunami; How You Can Help.

Aftermath of the tsunamiFriday, March 11th, 2011 marked a tragic day for Japan and the world. They experienced a 9.0 earthquake – making it the worlds 5th worst earthquake in history- and a tsunami that completely wiped out many towns in the Miyagi prefecture. Over 20,000 (Twenty Thousand) people are reported missing, with the death toll predicted to top out over 10,000 (Ten Thousand) people. Hundreds of thousands are completely without homes, and millions without power. The Japanese bank has put 83 million into recovery funds, but that is no where near enough. Japan needs your help.

Just because you don’t live in Japan, doesn’t mean it does not affect you. This crisis affects the whole world. Don’t think that just because you live in another country, that you are useless. There is so much you can do to help the families that have been hurt by this disaster, to help the men, women and children of Japan. Namely, you can donate. Donating takes only seconds, but helps immensely. Without our donations, more and more people will suffer.

As creatures of this Earth, it is our duty to help each other in times of need. No matter the amount, from $5 dollars to $1,000, every cent helps.

Even if you don’t have money or feel you are too young to help, there are things you can still do!
You can help by word of mouth. Tell your friends and family, tweet about it, blog about it, update your facebook, ask your principal to post fliers at your school with information. Get the word out about donating, so that more and more people can contribute to the aid efforts. If you want to get even more proactive, you can hold a fundraiser! Host a bake sell, or gather some friends and start a car wash.
